From first email to the album on your shelf
Say hello
You write, I write back within two days with availability and the full guide. If it feels right, we talk properly — a call, a coffee, a long email. No sales script, ever.
Hold the date
A simple contract and a 25% booking fee, and the day is yours. The balance can be paid in one go or spread across as many instalments as suits you.
Plan gently
Six weeks out we build the timeline together, following the light rather than fighting it. I will tell you where the golden hour falls and quietly protect twenty minutes of it.
The day itself
I arrive early, meet everyone, and then largely vanish. I move like a guest with a camera. Most couples tell me afterwards they forgot I was there, which is the entire point.
What arrives, and when
Within 48 hours
A small sneak peek of ten or so frames, while the day is still ringing in your ears.
Within six weeks
Your full gallery, hand-graded frame by frame, downloadable at print resolution with full printing rights.
Within ten weeks
Your album design, laid out by me and yours to adjust as many times as you like before it is bound.
Within four months
The finished linen album and archival prints, hand-wrapped and delivered. This is the part I look forward to.
Everything else
We are not photogenic and we hate having our picture taken.+
Almost everybody says this, including people who turn out to be wonderful in front of a camera. The dislike is usually of posing, not of being photographed — of being told to put your hand there and hold it while somebody adjusts a light.
I do not really do that. I set you walking, or talking, or leaning on a wall arguing about where to eat, and then I mostly get out of the way. If you are worried, book the engagement session. One hour will fix it entirely.
How far will you travel?+
Anywhere. I am based in the Cotswolds and travel within the UK is included in every collection. Last year took me to Puglia, Connemara, the Dolomites and a very cold beach in Northumberland.
For weddings abroad I add flights and two nights of accommodation at cost, with no mark-up and no day rate for travel. Collection three includes worldwide travel outright.
Do you shoot film or digital?+
Digital, graded by hand to behave like film. Modern cameras are quiet, reliable in dark churches, and never run out at the wrong moment — but the look I am after is the warmth and gentleness of film stock, so I build that in afterwards, image by image.
If you would like real film in the mix, I shoot two or three rolls of medium format alongside the digital as an addition. Those frames come back a few weeks later and they are always somebody’s favourites.
What if it rains?+
Then it rains, and we go outside anyway for ten minutes with an umbrella. Overcast light is the softest and most flattering there is, and rainy weddings consistently produce the photographs couples love most.
I always have a plan for weather, and I will have walked the venue’s indoor options before the day.
Can we give you a list of shots?+
A family list, absolutely — and please do. Groupings, names, who is not speaking to whom. I keep it in my pocket and work through it quickly, usually in under twenty minutes.
Beyond that, I would gently ask you not to. A long list of borrowed images turns the day into an errand, and the moments I am actually there for are the ones nobody could have written down in advance.
Do you have insurance and back-up equipment?+
Full public liability and professional indemnity cover — most venues ask for the certificate and I send it automatically. Two camera bodies on me at all times, plus a third in the bag.
Every photograph is written to two memory cards simultaneously as it is taken, backed up to two drives and the cloud before I go to bed, and kept for three years after delivery.
How many photographs will we get?+
Around 70 per hour of coverage — roughly 700 for a ten-hour wedding. That is deliberately fewer than some photographers deliver.
You will not receive nine near-identical frames of the same handshake. I cull hard, so that what arrives is a gallery you can actually sit down and look through in one evening.
Will you feed on our day, and do you need a break?+
A hot meal at the same time as your guests, please — not afterwards. Nothing interesting is ever photographed while everyone is eating, so it costs you no coverage at all, and it means I still have legs at midnight.
How do we book?+
Send the enquiry form with your date and venue. I will reply within two days with availability, the full collection guide and some honest thoughts about your timeline.
If you would like to go ahead, a simple contract and a 25% booking fee hold the date. I only take one wedding per weekend.
